Compare Drake Accounting Editions

Drake Accounting is available in two versions: Professional Edition and Forms Edition. All features offered in the Forms Edition are also included in the Professional Edition.

Professional Edition

With Drake Accounting’s Professional Edition, there are two ways to generate federal and state tax and wage forms, depending on your firm’s needs and goals:

Use the Employees module to generate federal and state forms from payroll data, as well as client and preparer setup information. In addition, state forms also pull information from client locations that have been set up. Federal forms offered under this module include:

• Forms 94x
• Forms W-2/W-3 and W-2c/W-3c  

If you want to generate federal and state forms without having entered previous transactions, use the On the Fly module to manually enter data. This method does not pull data from payroll transactions. This module gives you access to all the federal forms from the Employees module, plus:

• 1099-NEC
• 1099-OID
• 1099-PATR
• 1099-R
• 1099-S
• Forms 1098, 1098-C, 1098-T, and W-2G
• Form W-4
• Access to available state forms 

With Drake Accounting Professional Edition, you can easily generate Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC based on vendor payments made throughout the year using  invoices or the Quick Payments feature from the Payables module.

Forms Edition

With Drake Accounting’s Forms Edition, focus on federal and state payroll reporting and filing services. Generate federal and state forms on-the-fly, which lets you generate a form without entering previous transactions that are reflected on the form. For  example, you can print a W-2 without setting up payroll and entering the payroll transactions that are reflected on the W-2. Once the form is generated, none of the financial data is retained in Drake Accounting for bookkeeping purposes.

All federal and state forms that are available in Drake Accounting’s Professional Edition are available in the Forms Edition.
